In the course of a year, St. John’s is host to a large number of funerals and memorial services. The Clergy also take services at crematoria following which ashes may be buried in our Garden of Remembrance. An annual Service of Thanksgiving is held at St. John’s in November and is open to all who have suffered bereavement.
A small number of trained bereavement visitors assist the Vicar with pastoral visiting after a funeral. This group is coordinated by Valerie Darvill who may be contacted on 01442 258761.
A Confirmation service is held annually at St. John’s at which young people and adults make a public declaration of faith and receive prayer from the Bishop. (Unbaptised candidates also receive baptism at this service.) Preparation for Confirmation is held in the months leading up to the service and is led by the ministers of the church. For information contact the Parish Office on 01442 260299.
